  5. We Helped the Dogs at Pet...

This session, almost all of our members have a dog, and all of them love dogs. So one of our student volunteers, Chelsie, led us in making a huge bag-ful of dog toys made from old T-Shirts, socks and plastic water bottles that we all brought in.

We chose to donate all of these great dog toys to a deserving nonprofit in St. Petersburg, Pet Pals Animal Shelter. Pet Pals is a no-kill animal shelter and they take animals that are at risk of being euthanized and help them find a good home.

The folks at Pet Pals were super nice and gave us a great tour of their shelter. We all enjoyed petting the cats and dogs at the shelter.

After the tour, we headed across the street to the Historic Seaboard Train Station and had a great lunch at the CA Cafe. The food was good and the people were patient and understanding when we all ordered our food.

Both of these places were definitely aphasia-friendly places that we would recommend!

Just another fun outing at Voices of Hope for Aphasia….
