  5. Live Blues Music & Film Tell...

Marc Black, a New York Blues Hall of Famer, will be in St. Petersburg next month with a program that will inspire successful living in the face of adversity.

Marc sings the songs that he and stroke survivor, Dan Mountain, composed. Live performance of selections from his CD A Stroke of Genius will accompany a documentary that showcases the composer/performer’s relationship with his friend Dan Mountain, who survived a severe stroke.

Stroke survivor Dan Mountain, a former advertising writer, wrote poems about his experiences after stroke. His friend Marc Black then set these poems to music, and the result is an album that has been called “an album of hope” and features appearances by Art Garfunkel, John Sebastian, and The Dixie Hummingbirds.

Following the musical performance and the documentary, Marc Black and a panel of local experts will take questions from the audience about the music, the film, or about living with stroke. USF will be offering ASHA CEUs; for more information about CEUs, contact Cheryl Paul, capaul@usf.edu.
