We are thrilled to announce that hospitals in our area have agreed to host us as we offer our two-day workshop, “I have aphasia – now what?” Mease Countryside Hospital will host the workshop for the first time on Thursday and Friday, February 25 & 26. Blake Medical Center in Bradenton will host the workshop for its second time on April 14 & 15. We are also looking forward to working again with St. Anthony’s Hospital and Morton Plant Hospital later in the year.
The workshop is designed for people with aphasia and their caregivers. The emphasis is on developing a personalized set of communication tools that will ease the challenges of communication at home. “This has been a great program,” said one of the recent attendees. “We got down to the nitty-gritty in a way that we could not have done on our own. And I learned some tips from the group leaders and the others in the group that I might not have ever thought of myself.”
The 2-day workshop is held from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm on two consecutive days. Lunch is included and provides a time for families living with aphasia to compare notes and get support from each other.
